General Description

Principle Power Inc. (PPI) is looking to fill a full-time position for a Senior Mooring, Cabling and Asset Integrity Engineer in our office located in one of our European offices. The open position is set to be in the Technology Group of the company; a senior, small, dynamic and diverse environment with the primary goal to qualifying and maturing innovative designs for the future of the WindFloat product. This position will be a senior technical member of the organization focused on optimizing the performance, fabrication, and ultimately the cost of the WindFloat® and associated Mooring and Cabling Systems in future commercial-scale projects around the globe. Additionally, this candidate will help lead our efforts in providing clients WindFloat health monitoring and asset integrity management services.

 

Main Accountabilities

  • Define and execute early-stage design work to provide innovative technical solutions for station-keeping systems and subsea power transmission systems applied to Principle Power floating offshore wind projects around the world.
  • De-risk and qualify new mooring & cabling solutions in challenging project environments. 
  • Produce technical documentation to internal clients, external parties, classification societies, and suppliers.
  • Deliver design improvements through technical scope ownership in major R&D initiatives such as grant work and patent development
  • Develop tools and workflows to optimize early-stage design methods of mooring and cabling systems 
  • Assume ownership of technical interface to internal parties and external entities.
  • Collect and analyze the return of experience in deployed units to drive technical improvement on next generations of designs, including analysis of large sets of data
  • Develop methods to monitor and track component health through condition monitoring, remote diagnostics, and onsite inspection
  • Define and implement health monitoring and ALMS methodologies to aid in the transition from calendar-based inspection protocols to risk-based inspections and from corrective/preventive maintenance to condition-based maintenance for WindFloat assets 
  • Contribute to the broader organizational development of Principle Power’s Smart O&M Business, with a focus on growing the Asset Integrity  

 

Skills & Competencies

  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in the design of mooring and/or cable systems for offshore systems in concept, pre-FEED, FEED, and detail design phases.
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience working with mooring and cable design & analysis tools such as OrcaFlex or equivalent software.
  • Experience in offshore operations, inspection, maintenance, and repair with ability to develop asset integrity management and logistics plans, including sensor selection.
  • Advanced proficiency with FAST, OpenFAST, Orcaflex, Deeplines, or similar software, Matlab/Python, and Microsoft Office. Proficiency with offshore operations simulation software is an advantage.
  • Proven technical skills in the field of mooring and/or cable systems. Hydrodynamics and/or aerodynamics a plus.
  • Proficiency in analysis and interpretation of recorded asset performance data
  • Proven analytical skills.
  • Meticulousness and persistence.
  • Ownership of the technical solutions proposed.
  • Proven reporting skills in English, both oral and written.
  • Self-motivated team player.
  • Proven ability to work in multicultural and diverse environments
  • Experience in offshore work.
