General Description
Principle Power Inc. (PPI) is looking to fill a full-time position for a Senior Data Architect in our Lisbon, Portugal or Aix-En-Provence, France office. The open position is set to be in the Technology Group of the company; a small, dynamic and diverse environment. The work will be centered around floating wind projects and the role will be focused on the development of cloud-based data ingestion, storage, analysis, and visualization architecture for the WindFarm assets and accompanying 24/7 control center services. Additionally, the candidate will work with relational database tools to support data analytics and reporting needs. This is a highly technical role, requiring skills both skills in computer science and managing external commercial partnerships.
As a leader in floating, offshore wind energy, Principle Power is focused on the commercial-scale deployment of floating wind farms. We are looking for a highly technical person to own work scopes related to data storage, analysis, reporting, and visualization solutions. The successful candidate will be tasked with designing and implementing scalable cloud-based data storage solutions with common architecture to be used across projects and in integration with our offshore SCADA systems. This work will be performed under general supervision of the Technology Group with various engineering, O&M, and commercial interfaces; however, the candidate should be a self-motivated individual who is able to work independently and take ownership long term roadmaps, budgets, and deliverables.
Main Accountabilities
- Best-practice Cloud Architecture Solution Design including storage, insights, and analytics
- Agile software development
- Interface with cloud solution providers and manage technical contracts to link into our current systems
- Source code management and version control for all systems developed
- Algorithm development and implementation for data solutions
- Relational and non-relational database architecture design and query optimization,
- Timeseries data analysis,
- Interactive data visualization
- Owning company database development documentation and best practices
- Developing database solutions for engineering, O&M and commercial teams utilizing MS products (Access, Excel, Sharepoint, Power BI, etc)
- Interface with Engineering and O&M teams working on Digital Twin Solutions for Assets (Condition Monitoring, Structural Health Monitoring, Preventative maintenance)
Skills & Competencies
- 7+ years’ experience working in an Agile software development environment, cloud architecture, or database solutions roles
- Expert knowledge of at least one high-level software language such as Python, R, SQL, and JavaScript,
- Familiarity with scalable cloud architecture services (AWS, Google, Microsoft, etc). Microsoft Azure experience strongly preferred.
- Adept at software version control using Git,
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Access, and Sharepoint (meta data)
- Ability to produce clear and well written Engineering Reports and User Manuals in English,
- Ability to work efficiently in a team environment with other staff members and the discipline lead,
- Ability to learn in fast-paced environment and deliver high-quality results to co-workers and internal partners, and
- Prior experience with cloud computing, machine learning, performance engineering (e.g. leveraging SCADA systems to quantify and optimize power generation), wind energy, offshore oil & gas, or maritime industry is considered as an advantage.

- Minimal travel, which may include visits to Principle Power office locations in the US, Portugal, and France
